Ghana’s no 1 oil marketing company, GOIL PLC has begun the year by providing humanitarian aid to flood victims in the North Tongu district who are still reeling under the consequences of the October disaster.

The 150,000 Ghana Cedi donation was made to a delegation comprising the traditional and political leaders of the district at the Goil Executive Centre in Accra.

According to the management of GOIL, this donation is intended to add up to initial relief efforts made by other organizations in the aftermath of the spillage of the Akosombo Dam which displaced over 30,000 Ghanaians.

Group Chief Executive and Managing Director of GOIL, Kwame Osei Prempeh said he wishes the donation to be channeled into helping the most vulnerable in the communities.

“We believe that this money will go to the people who need it most. For me, especially the women and children who have suffered in this. We assure you this won’t be the last time you hear from us. At the appropriate time, you will hear from GOIL.”

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Okudzeto Ablakwa assured GOIL that the donation would be administered transparently and accounted for.

He said the money is expected to be directed into the housing projects which is currently more pressing as there are sufficient food items from previous donations by other organizations.

This assurance was corroborated by the District Chief Executive, Divine Osbon Fenu.

The traditional leaders present were full of praise for GOIL’s demonstration of commitment to the social well-being of Ghanaians.
