Job Vacancy: Mining company seeks experienced Senior Geologist

A reputable mining company in Ghana is seeking to recruit an experienced and highly capable Senior Geologist to support its mine geology, resource development, infill drilling, Mineral Resource, grade control, mine planning and technical reporting workstreams.

The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening geological data quality, improving orebody knowledge, supporting updated Mineral Resource work, coordinating drilling and assay programmes, and ensuring that geological outputs are translated into practical mine-planning and operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Geologist will be responsible for:

• supporting the development, maintenance and improvement of geological processes, systems and databases; • supporting geological modelling, grade-control models, depletion reporting and reconciliation processes; • coordinating infill drilling activities, including drilling priorities, field execution, logging, sampling, QAQC and assay turnaround monitoring; • supporting the preparation, validation and updating of geological models and Mineral Resource Estimates; • ensuring geological, drilling, assay and resource data are accurate, traceable, auditable and properly controlled; • assisting in the translation of geological models into practical mine-planning inputs, including mining areas, ore/waste boundaries, grade-control block-outs, depletion assumptions, product-quality assumptions and production schedules; • supporting mine planning, production scheduling, stockpile strategy, product-quality planning and resource-confidence improvement; • assisting with Resource-to-Reserve and bankability-related workstreams; • coordinating technical inputs from operations, processing, laboratory, HSE, environment, finance, commercial and external consultants; • supporting technical reports, progress updates and information required for management, shareholders, financiers and independent technical advisers.

Required Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate should have:

• a degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, Mining Geology, Earth Sciences or a related discipline; • significant experience in mine geology, resource development, grade control, infill drilling, geological modelling or Mineral Resource support; • practical experience in an operating mine environment, preferably open-pit mining; • strong understanding of geological databases, sampling, QAQC, assay management, reconciliation and resource reporting; • ability to work with external consultants, drilling contractors, laboratories and internal operational teams; • strong report-writing, data management and technical communication skills; • good working knowledge of mine-planning inputs, production scheduling, grade control and orebody reconciliation; • high levels of integrity, attention to detail, accountability and professional judgement.

Experience with Mineral Resource estimation, Competent Person support work, technical due diligence, lender-facing reporting or bankability studies will be an added advantage.

Location

Mine site-based role in Ghana, with interaction with consultants, management and other operational stakeholders as required.
