The luxury 5-star hotel intensifies its support in the fight against breast cancer by donating to BCI Ghana.
On the occasion of the first anniversary of BE Health, the flagship corporate social responsibility programme of Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra, the luxury 5-star hotel donated a total of GHS 105,000 to Breast Care International (BCI) Ghana to support the NGO’s endeavors in promoting breast cancer awareness.
In 2023, Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra launched BE Health and has committed to sponsoring several healthcare professionals through BCI Ghana as they attain oncology training, as well as supporting the provision of quality breast health education, clinical screening, counseling, research and treatments of patients affected by breast cancer. Through these efforts, the hotel hopes to improve public health outcomes and foster community well-being.
The BE Health initiative also encourages hotel guests to make a difference by voluntarily donating GHS 15 with every night stay at the hotel or purchasing the ‘BE Health Elixir’ cocktail. Due to its immense success since its launch, the BE Health initiative by Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra in aid of BCI Ghana won the Best Charity Initiative under the category of Hospitality for a Charity in the prestigious 2023 Hospitality Awards held in France.
Led by General Manager Hanno Barkhoff, the management of Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra made the presentation to BCI Ghana at the inaugural ‘Inspiring Women at Kempinski’ (IWK) summit held on 8 March to commemorate International Women’s Day, celebrating the achievements and contributions of women shaping the future of diverse industries in Ghana.
"This is such a great initiative, and we’re so proud of our partnership with Breast Care International,” he said. ‘We’ve embarked on a beautiful journey since last year with so many incredible activities and inspiring moments, and I’m thankful to be a part of one of the most fantastic initiatives of BE Health globally."
Receiving the donation, Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai, President of BCI Ghana, expressed gratitude to the management of Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra.
"This is the largest donation we’ve received from a single institution, and we’re truly grateful to Kempinski for the support over the past year."
She continued to advocate for the health of women citing that more women are diagnosed with breast cancer daily and encouraged all to give them hope, empower and encourage them to visit hospitals should they see any changes in their breasts.
In turn, she presented a citation of honor to the hotel for its unwavering dedication and generous contribution to promoting breast cancer awareness.
