The Omanhene of the Akuapem traditional area, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, has appointed Marigold Nana Abena Oye Akufo-Addo as the Royal Envoy Plenipotentiary of Okuapeman.
Earlier in the day, Madam Marigold was installed as the Abrewatia of Benkum Kyeame Abusua of Akropong-Akuapem.
In her role as the Omahene’s envoy, Abrewatia Abena Oye assumes the royal title The Oyententu of Okuapeman.
Oyententu, in Akan, means an all-around helper and she will serve as the Omanhene’s ambassador promoting diplomatic, cultural and economic partnerships with institutions, kingdoms and nations across the world in furtherance of development in Okuapeman.
The appellation (“nsamrane”) that accompanies Oyententu is Oprenkronsua, which means a person who sacrifices to save her town or state.
The Omanhene praised Madam Marigold’s years of service to her community and prayed for grace and wisdom from God to enable her to discharge her duties with distinction.
A certificate of honour presented to her by the Omanhene reads: “The Okuapehene, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III honours Marigold Oye Akufo-Addo who has been a beacon of inspiration, exemplifies dedication, and radiates a profound positive impact on humanity as The Oyententu (Oprenkronsua) of Okuapeman, the Royal Envoy Plenipotentiary of Okuapeman.”
In accepting the role, Madam Marigold acknowledged the visionary leadership of the Okuapehene and pledged to represent him well in furtherance of the progress of Okuapeman.
