The Private Newspaper Publishers Association of Ghana wishes to renew its commitment to the Government and People of Ghana to help consolidate the young democratic process, nurtured and built through our active involvement over the past 10 years.
PRINPAG believes that our newly-won freedom was gained through the gallantry of Publishers, Editors and other professional bodies, in collaboration with civil society. It is therefore our duty to help protect this freedom.
The National Executive Committee wishes to appeal to all Editors and their staff to raise the image and standards of the newspaper industry by being more responsible in their reportage. This could be enhanced through a prudent self-regulatory mechanism which the NEC will put in place with effect from this year.
PRINPAG also calls on the members to co-operate and collaborate with our sister-organisation, the Ghana Journalists Association, and the National Media Commission to champion the aspirations of all media practitioners.
We also want to assure our members and their staff that we shall make the maximum use of all invitations extended to the Association by the World Association of Newspapers as well as the Commonwealth Press Union and Other International bodies.
PRINPAG pledges to continue to remain steadfast and play our watch-dog role as enshrined in the 1992 4th Republican Constitution to keep the various arms of government accountable to the good people of Ghana.
We take this opportunity to wish all our members a Prosperous New Year and also wish to thank all our foreign developmental partners, especially the Friedrich Naumann Foundation and the Canadian International Development Agency, for their support and hope they will continue with their assistance to help the growth of the Association.
