TEDxAccra launches 'After the Talk Discussion' programme

To enforce its commitment in taking Ghanaians beyond TEDxtalk, TEDxAccra, the biggest TEDx event in Ghana, in the spirit of ideas worth spreading has launched its first ever monthly discussion event called 'Spread of Ideas' or ‘After The Talk Discussion’.

The event is to be a follow-up on the main TEDxAccra event which took place on the 11 of April 2015, and is aimed at discussing the ideas shared at the annual gatherings henceforth.

The maiden ‘After the Talk Discussion’ is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 30th June 2015 at Villa Monticello Boutique Hotel in Airport Residential Area, from 6pm to 8pm.

The theme for this month's discussion is 'Innovation in Business', which is expected to generate much interest in enabling people implement ideas they picked from TEDxAccra2015.

‘After the Talk Discussion’ is a FREE event but by invitation. Interested participants can apply for an invitation at https://t.co/c3OLg04Dl6 .

People who cannot be at the venue may join the discussions and engage in live Questions and Answers by hashtagging their tweets at #IdeaAfrica on the days leading up to the event and during the event.

Speaking at the closing of TEDxAccra event recently at ISPACE to enable the forming of a new team for next year, the Curator of TEDxAccra, Emmanuel Leslie Addae noted that the main aim for ‘After The Talk Discussion’ is for every TEDxAccra event to be useful to society and hold momentum for the next event.

At the occasion which was also used to launch ‘After The Talk Discussion’, he added that aside the after talk discussions, other activities are also lined up for TEDxAccra2016.

“Happy Hour, Accra City Tour, create newsletters, create a network of International Correspondents by – having a rep everywhere in the world. We want to bring Ghanaians abroad back home”, he said.

Emmanuel was also grateful to the hardworking team of about 30, and encouraged them to work harder to build a stronger brand of TEDxAccra to be proud of.

He admitted there were a few technical challenges in this year’s event, but promised to make it better.

“We are closing 2015 event this evening. We’re keeping 2015 volunteers who want to be part of 2016, but new volunteers will be screened for their skills – video editors, social media updaters, Storytellers, writers and speaker managers, Next year our theme is “re-think”, he informed the team.

Emmanuel Leslie Addae also revealed that soon after TEDxAccra 2015, he was privileged to attend a TEDx event in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire and will soon travel to Singapore for TEDxWeekend from July 2-5, 2015.

He added that a lot of experience has been gained from the trip which will be incorporated to make next year’s event better.
