Telecel Ghana launches crowdfunding platform - FUNDiT

Telecel Mobile Financial Services, operators of Telecel Cash, has launched FUNDiT, a secure crowdfunding platform designed to help individuals, groups and organisations raise funds for various projects and causes.

Managing Director for Telecel Cash and Digital Transformation, Philip Amoateng, said FUNDiT was developed as part of the company’s broader focus on creating crowdfunding solutions for everyday challenges faced by individuals, groups and organisations.

“Our goal with FUNDiT is to make crowdfunding seamless and hassle-free. Beyond that, it’s a platform that guarantees your money is secure. FUNDiT creates a space where every contribution, no matter its size, has the power to make a meaningful difference. It transforms individual acts of support into collective impact,” he said.

“The FUNDiT platform is built on trust, transparency and technology. Every social cause is verified. We demand proof: medical reports, school letters, community leader endorsements, photos and videos. For organisations such as NGOs, all projects go through a two-step vetting process, including business registration verification and founder KYC using the Ghana Card,” he added.

FUNDiT, the first platform of its kind hosted by a mobile financial services company in Ghana, is open to everyone, regardless of their mobile network or location. Beyond social and community causes, the platform can facilitate fundraising for a range of needs, from alumni and family contributions to weddings, funerals, parties, community projects and corporate social responsibility campaigns.

Contributions can be made from all mobile money networks, including Telecel Cash, as well as through bank cards and other available payment channels, both locally and internationally.

Dr Ellen Ohene-Afoakwa, Managing Executive for Corporate and Investment Banking at Absa Bank, FUNDiT’s banking partner, expressed excitement about the potential impact the platform will have on individuals, organisations and communities across Ghana and emphasised the bank’s commitment to developing innovative solutions.
