Nexans Kabelmetal Ghana Ltd announces the introduction of its new range of low smoke, anticounterfeit cables, a groundbreaking and first-of-its-kind cable in Ghana.

This cable is designed to enhance fire safety in buildings by significantly reducing smoke emission and toxic gases in the event of a fire.

This solution responds to growing safety concerns and highlights the critical role cable selection plays in protecting lives during fire incidents, whiles combating counterfeit electrical cables on the Ghanaian market.

Alexander Quarcoopome, CEO of Nexans Kabelmetal Ghana Ltd, said: “At Nexans Kabelmetal Ghana, safety is not an option.

"With the launch of our Low Smoke Anti-Counterfeit cable, we are reinforcing our commitment to safety and consumer protection in Ghana."

This innovation sets a new benchmark in fire safety while combating counterfeit products — helping to protect lives, infrastructure, and investments.

In fire situations, smoke and toxic gas inhalation are among the primary causes of injuries and fatalities.

The Low Smoke Anti-Counterfeit cables are specifically engineered to slow down fire propagation, and limit the release of dense smoke and corrosive gases when exposed to high temperatures, helping to maintain visibility, reduce smoke inhalation, and facilitate evacuation for building occupants and emergency responders.

This makes all the difference between life and death and ultimately helps save lives.

Counterfeit cables remain a serious industry challenge, compromising safety and consumer trust.

This cable includes embedded authentication technology that helps protect consumers from fake cables by scanning the cable to confirm authenticity via the Nexans App.

Developed using advanced materials, and in line with local and international safety standards, these innovative cables offer up to three times better visibility in fire conditions, significantly improving orientation in smoke-filled environments and reducing the risk of smoke inhalation.

The cable also complies with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard- IEC/EN 60332-1-2 (flame retardant) and IEC/EN 61034-2 (low smoke emission).

The new Low Smoke Anti-Counterfeit cables with improved mechanical properties, are suitable for use in mining, residential, commercial and public buildings, like hospitals, schools, offices, and transportation facilities, where human safety is a top priority.

As the leader in the cable manufacturing industry in Ghana, this new cable represents our continued commitment to innovation, safety, quality, reliability and protecting the integrity of our industry.
