Italy-Ghana Water Technology Workshop strengthens business partnerships

The maiden Italy–Ghana Water Technology Workshop & B2B Meetings 2026 has successfully concluded in Accra, marking an important milestone in strengthening business cooperation and knowledge exchange between Italy and Ghana in the water treatment and water technology sector.

Organised by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) – Accra Office in collaboration with BolognaFiere Water&Energy and Accadueo (H2O)—Italy's premier exhibition dedicated to water technologies—the two-day programme brought together leading Italian companies, Ghanaian businesses, government institutions, development partners and technical experts to explore innovative solutions for Ghana's evolving water sector.

The mission combined company site visits, Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings and a high-level technical workshop, providing a unique platform for dialogue, technology transfer and commercial partnerships between Italian solution providers and Ghanaian stakeholders.

Prior to the workshop, the Italian delegation visited selected Ghanaian companies for tailored B2B meetings and concluded the day with a collective visit to Ghana Water Company Limited, where discussions focused on the opportunities and challenges facing Ghana's urban water supply sector and the role that innovative technologies can play in improving service delivery.

Opening the workshop, H.E. Laura Ranalli, Ambassador of Italy to Ghana, reaffirmed Italy's commitment to supporting Ghana's sustainable development through innovation and international cooperation.

"Strengthening collaboration with industry partners creates opportunities for joint research, knowledge exchange and technology transfer, enabling both countries to develop practical solutions to today's water management challenges," she said.

According to the Ambassador, the workshop forms part of the Italian Government's broader efforts to promote cooperation between Italian water technology providers and Ghanaian stakeholders, with particular emphasis on sustainable water infrastructure, wastewater management and technological innovation.

The Director of the Italian Trade Agency – Accra Office, Mr. Luigi Puca, described the workshop as a reflection of the Agency's commitment to promoting sustainable water solutions while creating new opportunities for commercial cooperation between Italian and Ghanaian businesses.

"As the global demand for sustainable water management continues to grow, collaboration, innovation and the sharing of expertise have never been more important," he noted.

He added that the workshop provided participants with an important platform to discover advanced Italian technologies, discuss current industry challenges and identify opportunities for long-term cooperation and mutually beneficial investment.

The event attracted more than 90 Ghanaian companies, representing the water, construction, mining, engineering, manufacturing and environmental sectors, demonstrating the strong interest in innovative technologies and sustainable water management solutions.

The workshop also received significant institutional support, with keynote presentations from Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Minister, and Hon. Wilbert Petty Brentum, Western North Regional Minister, who highlighted investment opportunities and water infrastructure priorities within their respective regions.

The Managing Director of Ghana Water Limited, Hon. Adam Mutawakilu, also addressed participants, outlining the challenges and opportunities within Ghana's water sector while emphasizing the importance of international collaboration in improving access to safe and reliable water services.

The Italian delegation comprised nine leading companies representing a broad spectrum of water technologies, including Caprari S.p.A. (pumping systems), Etatron D.S. S.p.A. (dosing, disinfection and water treatment technologies), I.D.Eco S.r.l. (environmental and water treatment solutions), Libo S.r.l. (industrial filtration systems), Paparelli Alessandro e Figlio S.r.l. (mechanical screening and pretreatment systems), Sereco S.r.l. (wastewater treatment and water recycling technologies), Teti Acque S.r.l. (drinking water and industrial water treatment plants), Valveit S.r.l. (valves and flow-control solutions) and Biomar S.r.l. (environmental and sustainable water management technologies).

A key highlight of the mission was the dedicated B2B matchmaking sessions, where Italian and Ghanaian companies engaged in focused discussions on potential collaborations, technology transfer and future business partnerships. The meetings generated strong interest from both sides and laid the groundwork for continued cooperation beyond the workshop.

Participants expressed optimism that the success of the maiden Italy–Ghana Water Technology Workshop & B2B Meetings will pave the way for future editions, establishing the initiative as a regular platform for dialogue, innovation and commercial engagement between Italy and Ghana.

The event reaffirmed the shared commitment of both countries to advancing sustainable water management, fostering private-sector partnerships and supporting innovative solutions that contribute to economic development and improved access to water services.
