This is to inform the media and the general public that the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), has today, Wednesday, August 21, 2013 inspected and approved for Antrak an ATR 72-500 aircraft with registration number EC-LYJ. The 68-seater aircraft, is currently registered by the Spanish Civil Aviation Authority and until this week was being operated by Swiftair for internal flights in Spain. The aircraft, which arrived at the Kotoka International Airport this morning, is a replacement for the EC-KUL that was involved in an incident in Tamale on Friday, August 16, 2013. Below is a photo of the aircraft parked at the Kotoka International Airport this morning and the approval letter from the GCAA.
