The Police in Asamankese in the Eastern Region are investigating circumstances that led to the death of a 50-year-old staff of the West Akim Municipal Assembly in his home.

Victor Remy Bedjasa, who was a Director in-charge of Human Resource at the Assembly, was found dead in his staff bungalow last Wednesday afternoon in his room.

His body was discovered by the Police who forced opened the door to his room after they received reports from staff of the Assembly that the deceased has failed to respond to phone calls from staff and his wife, raising concerns about his whereabouts.

Police say his body was found at the entrance of his bathroom with vomit all over on the floor and a torchlight lied beside him. Reports say there was a blackout in the Asamankese township last Wednesday.

The deceased was transferred to the West Akyem Assembly less than a year ago and moved into the official bungalow barely four months now.

Asamankese District Commander, DSP Sampson Anane Appiah, who confirmed the incident to TV3 said a staff of the Assembly called the Police that they have not seen the deceased that Wednesday; something that was unusual about him.

DSP Appiah said it was until the deceased’s wife called the office in the afternoon that Victor’s office staff got alarmed, hence went to his bungalow to find out if he was still at home.

A staff of the Assembly who went there reported that although Victor’s door was locked, his ceiling fan and radio were turned on, suggesting he was inside the room, the Police said.

DSP Appiah said the staff member then called the Police who rushed to the bungalow and broke into Victor’s room only to find him dead. The body of Victor has since been deposited at the Asamankese Government Hospital morgue pending investigations and autopsy.
