A baby boy has been burned to death at Kasoa Kumbe near Opeikuma in the Awutu Senya East Municipality after an unidentified mother abandoned the child behind a school building.

According to reports, one of the residents saw a black-wrapped polythene bag dumped behind a school building in the community. It was initially thought to be just rubbish, with no awareness that it contained a human being.

A lady is said to have taken the wrapped polythene bag and dumped it at the regular refuse site, where she set it on fire.

In an interview with Kasapa News, eyewitness Alhassan Abdul Razak said that after some hours, they discovered that some parts of the baby had burned to ashes when the woman returned to dump more refuse at the site.

Razak said they do not know the mother of the baby and whether the boy died before being placed in the polythene bag or if he died in the fire.

Meanwhile, the Unit Committee Chairman for the Kasoa Opeikuma-Krispocity Electoral Area, Sulley Siisey, expressed shock upon seeing the burnt baby boy.

According to him, they suspect the mother of the baby was from elsewhere and dumped the child behind the school.

He mentioned that they had not seen anyone who had recently given birth in the area but would do their best to arrest the suspect.

The baby's body has been removed, and the case has been reported to the police and is pending investigation.
