Resident nationals of Cameroon together with supporters who joined their football team and other dignitaries have celebrated their national day in Kumasi. The celebration was preceded by a float amidst drumming and dancing through the principal streets of Kumasi.

National flags were hoisted as a symbol of friendliness between Ghana and Cameroon with national anthems of both countries played with flag miniatures of both countries flying at half mast.

In a brief interview, the Cameroonian Minister of Culture, Ama Tutu Muna told B&FT that she was very impressed with what she had seen in terms of infrastructure and culture in Accra and Kumasi. She commended Ghanaians for their hospitable nature and sense of cordiality and did not wonder the peaceful atmosphere in the Ghanaian environment.

The Cameroonian Culture Minister expressed her appreciation for the kind of support offered her country and her people by the Ghanaian Minister of Culture & Chieftaincy Affairs since their arrival in the country. She congratulated the Local Organising Committee of the 26th African Cup of Nations for a perfect job done. She was therefore optimistic that the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and the Black Stars of Ghana would meet at the final stage of the ongoing tournament but which her country would emerge the winner.

The celebration continued as the Cameroonians celebrated their cultural evening. The objective was to showcase Cameroonian fashion, dance, food music and arts.

This showed that their presence in Ghana 2008 for the 26th edition of the African Nations Cup was in consolidation of the country?s vision to project its culture within a given framework. The presence of Cameroonian artists and musicians like the prolific multi-dimensional Manu Dibango, Bebe Manga, the National Ballet and others was a show piece of Cameroon?s wealth in her cultural divergence.
