The Ministry of Education admits that social media has negative impact on the performance of students.
This is because students are extending the style of writing in such media to academic work.
The Ministry is therefore setting up a committee to come out with modalities to address the situation.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has described as erroneous a publication that less than 30 percent of this year's WASSCE students passed the examinations.
The Public Relations Officer, Paul Krampah, told Radio Ghana that the Ministry has directed WAEC to clarify the issue.
In a related development, the Vice Rector of Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), Dr Wilberforce Dzisah challenged parents and teachers to coach the youth on the positive use of social media.
The Registrar of GIJ, Perry Fosu, believes the poor performance of students in examination in recent times is largely attributed to the use of social media.
