Residents near the Iran Clinic at Adabraka, a suburb of Accra, have called on the police to intensify patrols in the area.

They also want a police check point set up near the clinic to make them feel safer.

The residents, who spoke to Community Connect hostJohnnie Hughes, said they live in fear following the killing of a mobile money vendor in the area last Monday.

The mobile money vendor was shot dead by armed robbers around 8pm on the the said date.

“The area now is very scary. Even, how to bring out money from your pocket to do transaction now is very difficult for us, because you don’t know who to trust and who is going to attack you. We are now very, very, very scared in this area and I beg people to walk in groups for their own protection,” a resident, Kwame, stated.

The residents also complained bitterly about the year-long absence of streetlights, insisting that the area is no longer a safe place and has become a haven for petty thieves and criminals.

“If you walk alone here at night, it is possible you will be attacked and your belongings will be taken from you, especially near that old overhead bridge leading to new town,” another resident noted.

Community Connect is a developmental show on 3FM 92.7 every Friday morning at 9:00.
