Elmina, April 23, GNA- Five pregnant junior high school students were among candidates writing the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo (KEEA) Municipality. Two of the girls were writing the examination at the St Anne's Catholic school centre near Elmina, another two at the Abrem-Agona centre and one at the Komenda training college examination centre. This came to light when the central regional minister Nana Ato Arthur, toured the examination centres, at Komenda, Abrem-Agona, Kissi, Edinaman and St Anne senior high schools, in the municipality on Tuesday.

One other girl, who was also said to be pregnant, failed to turn up for the examination because of her condition, while 14 other candidates were also absent.

Nana Arthur exhorted the candidates to be disciplined and take the examination seriously so that they could obtain good grades to enable them to further their education.
