No school in the Kumasi Metropolis will open for business on Thursday, January 19, 2017.

The move is to pave way for the smooth funeral rite of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II.

This follows a permission granted the Ghana Education Service (GES) by Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Chairman of the Transition Team to shut down all schools in the Kumasi Metropolis on Thursday, January 19, 2017.

A communique signed by Mrs. Felicia Boakye-Yiadom, Ag. Deputy Director-General (Q&A) of the GES dated January 16, 2017 on behalf of the Director-General has been sent to the Ashanti Regional Director of the GES to that effect.

The document, a copy of which has been sighted by this website, has been received and also circulated to all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directors of Education.
