Graduates urged not to despise small beginnings

Prof. Kwame Ameyaw Domfeh, Dean of the University of Ghana Business School Monday appealed to graduates to start their own businesses regardless of how small they might be.

This, he said, would help to avert the high rate of unemployment among graduates in the country.

Prof. Domfeh said this during the launch of a three-Day Start-up (3DS) initiative to be organised by Brain Development Institute Limited, a human development organisation.

The 3Day Start-up, which would start from the 17 to 19 January 2014, would provide entrepreneurial skills to university students in an extreme hands-on environment to enable students start their own companies.

Prof Domfeh expressed his appreciation to Brain Development Institute Limited for the initiative aimed at bringing out the entrepreneurial skill in students.

Mr Ebenezer Botwe, Chief Executive Officer, Brain Development Institute, said the programme would bring together 40 business minded students assembled at the Business School of University of Ghana after an interview session with all applicants.

He said the 40 students who would be selected would be divided into groups and each group would be required to come out with its own business ideas.

“Brain Development Institute in collaboration with other stakeholders would then sponsor or invest in business ideas which have prospects,” he said.

Mr Botwe said although the programme would be held at the University of Ghana Business School, entry was opened to all tertiary students across the nation.
