The Tamale Central Police Station has launched a manhunt for members of a group that stormed the post to forcibly release their arrested colleague who was being held in custody over a land issue.

The Public Relations Officers of the Northern Regional Police Command, DSP Mohammed Tanko, confirmed the incident to Class91.3FM’s Jonas Ofori-Yeboah.

He said, “Four persons have been arrested in connection with the disturbance”.

The group massed up at the police station on Tuesday, 6 November 2018, just after the arrest of their colleague.

Police officers resorted to the use of force to fight off the crowd and arrest some of the invaders.

The police had to fire warning shots in order to disperse the adamant crowd.

Class FM's regional correspondent, Mohammed Gadafi told Valentina Ofori-Afriyie, host of the radio station’s 505 news analysis programme later in the evening that there is a heavy police presence in the area to ensure that the group does not return to the police station.
