Learn to uplift GIMPA’s image - Rector

Professor Franklyn Achampong Manu, Rector of Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) has urged newly admitted students of the Institutes to disdain acts of indiscipline and learn hard to uplift the image of the school.

Prof Manu said there is no short cut to achievement and urged the students to focus on their studies to justify the investment made on them since that is the only legacy they could bequeath to the generation after them.

The Rector made the call at the 12th Matriculation of the Institute for the 2014/2015 academic year in Accra.

The students were matriculated to pursue degree programmes in Law, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Hospitality and Tourism Management.

The rest of the programmes are Operations and Supply Chain Management, Procurement Management, Project Management, Economics, Information and Communications Technology and Computer Science in all its campuses in Accra, Tema, Kumasi and Takoradi.

He cautioned the students against any acts of examination malpractices, stressing that the Institute has worked assiduously to maintain its reputation at the highest pedestal and it behooves on the students to uphold the school’s virtues and tenets.

Prof Manu urged the students to always use dialogue to solve their differences and not to resort to violence acts since it affected national cohesion and unity among students and management of the institution.

He assured the students of the faculties’ and staff’s readiness and commitment to work diligently in responding to their needs.

The Rector challenged the students to prepare themselves for more challenging curriculum since their outfits was determined to offer courses that will respond to the needs of industry players in the country.

Prof Philip Doku Osei, Deputy Rector of GIMPA, said the Institute was noted for its excellence and diligent in the pursuit of academic endeavors, and called on the students to continue to uphold this excellence that it had been pursuing over the years.

Mr Ibrahim Sissey, a newly admitted student on behalf of the students pledge their unflinching support to the school, and promised to learn hard to uphold the virtues of the school.

Mr Sissey said education is fundamental to the development of any economic growth and as such they were well prepared to unleash their full potentials to enhance the institute’s credibility of academic excellence.

Mr Sissey urged management of the school to design proactive curriculum to sharpen their entrepreneurial skills.
