Winneba (C/R), Sept. 27, GNA - The New Patriotic Party (NPP) government's plan to build a new and bigger modern district hospital at Winneba to cater for people in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District, would not be swept under the carpet. To fulfil this laudable objective, the Government is seriously negotiating with a foreign company to bring the project into fruition before the next general elections.

Mr Samuel Kofi Owusu-Agyei, Deputy Minister of Health and MP for Efutu, gave the assurance at a meeting with party executives and supporters at Winneba. The MP, accompanied by the constituency chairman Mr Kofi Taylor and other executive members had earlier inspected road rehabilitation works currently under way in the Winneba Township. Mr Owusu-Agyei said that the NPP administration attached great importance to health needs of the people in the area and would not do anything that would suggest that, plans to provide the people of Awutu-Effutu-Senya District with a better and fitting district health facility had been abandoned.

He praised NPP followers in the Effutu constituency for their spirit of unison and high sense of patriotism with which they had been championing the aims and objectives of the party after the recent constituency congress. Mr Owusu-Agyei announced plans to rehabilitate roads linking Winneba and other communities around it after completing rehabilitation works on roads in the town.

He stressed the need for followers of the party to ensure effective collaboration with leaders of the various organized groups in the district in order to win more supporters for the party. Mr Kofi Taylor, the new constituency chairman, thanked NPP members in the constituency for their cooperation and appealed to them to maintain their support and hard work to enable the party to grow from strength to strength in the year ahead.
