Okyenhene promotes STEM Education as part of 25th-anniversary celebration

Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin is championing the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education as part of his 25th-anniversary celebration on the Ofori Panin stool.

At a durbar organized in his honour by the Adonten Division of the Akyem Abuakwa State, Okyenhene inspected a STEM exhibition and robotics competition by Kukurantumi Roman Catholic Basic School.

He emphasized that STEM education fosters exploration, curiosity, and problem-solving skills essential for development.

Okyenhene encouraged students to pursue STEM fields passionately, equipping themselves with the skills needed to lead future scientific and engineering advancements.

Highlighting the Adonten division’s educational strength, Okyenhene noted the numerous institutions within Kukurantumi and Tafo that could be harnessed to spur development.

He also urged successful professionals from Kukurantumi and Tafo to return and contribute to their community's development.

The overlord of Akyem Abuakwa state called for continued unity within the division and adherence to traditional procedures in resolving chieftaincy disputes.

The Chief of Akyem Kukurantumi, also Adontenhene of Akyem Abuakwa, Daasebre Boamah Darko, lauded Okyenhene’s leadership and commitment to education over the past 25 years, citing projects like the construction of ten Amoatia Ofori Panin Model Schools and the establishment of the University College of Agriculture and Environmental Science (UCAES).

The Adonten division, second in command within the Akyem Abuakwa State, comprises over 155 towns and villages, including Kukurantumi, Tafo, Asuom, Apapam, Takyiman, Osiem, Adoagyiri, Nkronso, and Akooko. The Adontenhene oversees the administration of the state in the Okyenhene’s absence.

The anniversary celebrations of Okyenhene are set to run throughout 2024, featuring a diverse range of events, including a One Million Tree Planting Exercise and One Student One Tree Project Launch (3rd June 2024), Benkum Divisional Durbar, Begoro (21st June 2024), Grand Ohum Durbar, Kyebi (20th July 2024), Gyase/Kwaben Divisional Durbar (27th September 2024), Asona Family Reunion (4th October 2024), and a 25th Anniversary Football Gala (5th October 2024).

The rest of the activities include an Okyeman Congress and Awards Night (19th October 2024), Okyeman Fun & Food Fair at the Community Centre (23rd November 2024), a Golf Tournament (30th November 2024), a Non-Denominational Birthday Thanksgiving Service (14th December 2024), a Mega Musical Concert at the Kyebi Community Centre (Evening of 14th December 2024), and a Children’s Party (28th December 2024).
