But for the timely intervention of the police, some aggrieved customers of embattled gold dealership company, Menzgold, would have burnt down the company’s Amakom branch office.

The customers Tuesday morning defied orders from the police service and stormed the Amakom branch of the company to demand a refund of their investments.

Even though the Ashanti Regional Police Command has earlier warned the aggrieved customers to suspend their planned demonstration because it was “illegal”, the customers did not budge.

The customers blocked the main road from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to Adum (Tech-Adum road) and burnt car tyres in front of the gold dealership firm.

The angry-looking customers say they are fed up with the numerous failed with the promises Chief Executive Officer of the company, Nana Appiah Mensah, hence the action.

“I have over GH¢50,000 locked up and not a pesewa has been given to me. We have petitioned all stakeholders, but our woes keep worsening. Resorting to unlawful demonstration was the only way for us to be heard”, a frustrated Menzgold customer told 3news.com.

“We are not asking the government to use taxpayers’ money to settle us but all that we want is for government to find ways of confiscating Menzgold’s asset to pay us off,” another angry customer said.

But the swift intervention of the police prevented the demonstrators from causing destruction to the Menzgold office. The police managed to control and dispersed the crowd from the premises.

Ashanti regional police Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Godwin Ahianyo, says the police will continue to monitor situations on the ground to ensure nothing untoward happen.

He described the demonstration as unlawful.

But the demonstrators say they will continue hitting the streets until their money is released to them.
