The Minister of the Savannah Region Hon. Adam Salifu Braimah has visited some registration centers in the Damongo Constituency of the Savannah Region to have first-hand information on the ongoing Registration process in the region on the first day of the new voter's registration exercise on 30th June, 2020.
The minister who was in the company of the regional security council speaking to the media at the Larabanga L/A Primary School said he was impressed with the turnout even though there were some few challenges.
He said after visiting some of the polling stations, he was very sure the Damongo Constituency is most likely to record a high number of voters considering the number of people lined up for the registration exercise.
Hon. Adam Salifu used the opportunity to appeal to the people of the region who have attained the voting age to come out in their numbers to register since the voter ID card apart from using it to vote has other important uses.
He further commended the people in the region for the peaceful manner in which exercise is ongoing and again urged the long queue of registrants to continue to observe the protocols put in place in other to prevent the spread and contraction of the Corvid-19 pandemic in the region through the exercise.
The minister further commended the security agencies in the region for a good job done so far and urged them to keep to continue to maintain peace at the various centers.
A total of eight registration centers began the exercise in the Damongo Constituency with additional two centers expected to be opened at the Savannah Regional Offices of the electoral commission on the 2nd of July 2020.
Each of the centers will go through the registration for six (6) days.
