Small-scale businesses urged to engage competent managers

Kumasi, Jan. 23, GNA- Small-scale business operators have been advised to engage qualified and competent people who could assist them to manage their businesses efficiently.

Mr Patrick Adu-Gyamfi, Chairman of the Association of Processed Drinking Water Producers, expressed concern about a situation where most small-scale enterprises do not keep proper books or conduct any effective cost analysis to determine how they were performing. He was addressing a meeting of the Association in Kumasi on Thursday.

Mr Adu-Gyamfi noted that some micro-enterprises were not making profit because their operators lacked the necessary business skills and orientation.

He told members of the Association to ensure that they maintain high quality standards.

He said under no circumstance should they allow the motive for making profit to undermine public health and safety.

The Processed Water Producers after exhaustive deliberations unanimously agreed to adjust the price of sachet water upwards. This, they said, had become necessary in view of the rising overheads.

A bag containing 30 sachets of processed water would now be sold at 6,000 cedis instead of 4,000 cedis.
