TMA bags over ¢3 billion in 6 months

Classic FM Techiman; The Techiman Municipal Assembly has been able to collect whooping amount of ¢3,019,948,000 in six months representing 55.3% of the targeted revenue for this year. According to the MCE, all efforts have been put in place to sensitize the people to pay their revenues as approved by the Municipal Assembly.

This was made known by the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Prince Yaw Donyina at the Second Ordinary Meeting of the Fifth Assembly held in Techiman.

Hon. Prince Yaw Donyina further announced that, government has allocated ¢2 billion for the Techiman Municipality under the HIPC project to under take street naming and House Numbering Exercise and therefore appealed to the public to co-operate to make the exercise great success.

The MCE additionally revealed that 29 different road projects have so far been awarded for the construction and rehabilitation of roads, which was funded by Ghana government under the Road Fund Board.

He stressed that the Techiman Municipal Directorate of Education has received a total amount of ¢1.4 billion for the Capitation Grant in making remarkable impact in the education sector.

Hon. Prince Yaw Donyina continued that pragmatic steps have been put in place to contain the pupils who study under trees as a result of the massive enrolment in schools due to the introduction of the Capitation and School Feeding Programme adding that more school blocks have been constructed to avert the situation

Touching on agriculture Hon. Prince Yaw Donyina observed that, Kaniago Irrigation Project has been awarded to a contractor at the cost of ¢9.7 billion. He added that the tomato-processing machine is about 95% complete and the assembly is collaborating with the VRA to install transformer as soon as possible to enable them tab power to that place.

He said, the cocoa spraying exercise is the municipality is going on successfully adding that almost all cocoa farms within the municipality that have reached fruiting stage were sprayed.

The MCE announced that 200 people have been employed under the National Youth have been employed under the National Youth Employment Programme. On the issue of crime wave, Hon Prince Donyinah mentioned the launching of Operation Calm Life in Techiman, move by the Assembly to rent private accommodations for the Police and efforts by Nananom to put up a Police Barracks as a pragmatic measures being put place curtail the situation.
