Transfers are not meant to punish workers - GES boss

Mr Jacob Kor, Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), has called on the staff of the Service to accept transfers and see them as an opportunity to learn new things elsewhere.

Speaking at a durbar for staff of GES in Accra, Mr Kor said it was as a result of such transfers that he acquired the needed experience and learn about the culture and traditions of other people.

"Since I joined GES as a professional teacher and officer, I have been transferred for over six times. I have had no problem with that at all. Through transfers, I now can eat a variety of food, and can speak many Ghanaian languages. Transfers are not intended to punish anybody but to serve as an opportunity to learn from and serve others at other places ", he said.

Mrs Cynthia Bosomtwe-Sam, National Director in charge of Curriculum Research and Development Division of GES, urged staff and teachers to cooperate with the Bureau of National Investigations as they conduct the validation exercise of personnel on government payroll.
