Wa water expansion project now 60% complete

Work on the Janbusi Water supply project which is expected to provide potable water for the Wa township and its environs is now 60 per cent completed.

President John Dramani Mahama on November, 2013, cut a sod to commence work on the 51 million United States dollars project, which when completed, would have a generation capacity of 15,000 cubic meters of water, equivalent to 3.3 million gallons daily.

Dr. Kweku Agyemang Mensah, the Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, during a visit to the project site at Janbusi, expressed satisfaction with work done so far.

He said provision of potable water for the Ghanaian citizenry was high on the government’s agenda, hence the initiation of such a huge project geared towards addressing the water needs of the fast growing Wa Municipality.

He was accompanied by the Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Musheibu Mohammed Alfa and the Wa Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Issahaku Nuhu Putiaha

The Water Resources Minister also commended workers of the project for putting in much effort to bring the project this far.

Mr Edward Kwabena Agyekum, the Project Manager, Ghana Water Company Limited, assured that the project would be completed by November, 2015, and ready for handing over in February, 2016.
