Chiefs are not elected by people and the concept is against the modern day democracy. Why should they be given power when people have no say in their election and can not hold them accountable? Often they cause more problems to the development of the area than help due to chieftaincy conflicts. GHANA has too many layers of governance and the cost of governance is too heavy and ineffective. We have the central government, we have the regional Ministers and we have MCEs, DCEs and we have chiefs in every district. All these people need to be paid and their luxurious lifestyles supported by us.

For pledging to review the Chieftancy Act I will advise all progressive Ghanaians not to vote for Bawumia. Chieftancy is an outmoded institution that shouldn't be tolerated in modern Ghana. When the colonial government embraced chieftancy and gave chiefs more powers chiefs became more dictatorial and arbitrary. They used their police forces and courts to arbitrary arrest their subjects and their courts were kangaroo courts. In his desire to get power Bawumia is making ridiculous promises to Ghanaians. Promises that will send the nation backwards to the stone age.
