If you treat a place as a tourist site, be ready to pay for it. If we pay money to visit Manhyia Palace, then the airport will be treated the same way.
I believe the management is doing this for security reasons.

I paid 20 pounds for parking at an airport in the UK for 1 hour and 1 minute. Under 1 hour is 12 pounds.
Oh and drop off charges are 5 pounds and that is for each time you go through the airport.

The Regional leaders and the Authorities need to be proactive- in making sure every piece of land around the Airport and it environs are used in the interest of developing the Airport and the Kumasi city as one of the most attraction and tourist sites of Ghana.
recommendations
1. Airport and Taxi around the world are like twins-
therefore Taxis at the Airport need to be ran by a company- with instructions of fitting Taxi meters , or compiling all the cities, towns and districts in a book,
eg
what is the distance from Airport to Mamponteng ? if the distance is 10km- in the book we could say
Airport Taxi charges GHs1 / km so 10km would be GHS10

by so doing we could make and bring sanity into the Airport Taxi. it is very important we don't allow anybody to ran a taxi at the Airport.
even before the company that would ran the Taxi business employed any Driver- there must be requirement .
The person must be at least a SHS certificate holder.

that person may need a criminal record checks from CID headquarters.
that driver may not have involved in accidents for the past 5years

2. due to bad and mud roads in the country to prevent dusty and dirty cars at the Airport- there must be an authorised washing bay around the Airport entry - in which you must wash the car before driving through.

3. the ENTRY TICKETS NEED TO AUTOMATED-

4.There must be a maximum waiting time at the Airport for eg 2hours.

5. Airport must be a security ZONE
Ghana police and military must have a very decent post near or around the Airport

Hitherto, there was no International Airport but an Airport with ordinally land and taking off facilities

Construction of an ultra modern terminal, runways, asphalted roads, modern parking lots, etc, etc cannot be described as refurbishing or renovation!
