Residents of Adidome in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region have appealed to the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA), to prioritise the rehabilitation of the Adidome township roads in the authority’s next intervention schedule.
They explained that parts of the Adidome-Sogakope Junction stretch leading to the Volta River area has collapsed and calls for urgent technical attention to ensure a durable and long-term solution for road users and residents have been unsuccessful.
Assembly Member of the Adidome Central Electoral Area, Gugyisberg Fiagbenu, made the appeal at an ongoing community-led initiative to patch potholes on portion of the roads, according to a Ghanaian Times report.
He described this as a temporary measure aimed at getting more comprehensive government engagement.
“The Central Tongu Fire Service provided water for works, while the Central Tongu District Police Command ensured orderly traffic flow,” he said.
According to the assembly man, shop owners and drivers in the community made some donations and cooperated with the traffic arrangement to facilitate the work which is almost done.
He urged the community to continue supporting development initiatives and express optimism so that authorities would respond positively to the appeal.
