A teacher, identified as Kofi Boateng, has reportedly lost GH₵13,000 after falling victim to an alleged money ritual scam promoted through television advertisement.

Kofi explained that his decision to contact the supposed ritualist was driven by severe financial difficulties.

According to a report by adomonline.com on March 21, 2026, the man promised to multiply an initial amount of GH₵1,000 into GH₵500,000 through spiritual means.

“By the time I finished, I had spent about GH₵13,000,” Kofi disclosed, as he admitted the money belonged to his wife

He explained that after making the payments, the ritualist handed him a sealed pot, claiming it contained money.

Kofi said he was instructed not to open it immediately and was told to return with GH₵10,000 as thanksgiving after confirming the success of the process.

The situation took a turn when he eventually opened the pot, only to discover it contained sand, paper, and pieces of cloth instead of money.

“There was no money; it was filled with sand, paper, and cloth,” he indicated.

The host of Obra Show questioned how such schemes continue to attract victims, particularly among educated individuals, and called for increased public awareness about fraudulent spiritual claims.

“Who is regulating these people on our television screens? They are everywhere on TV, on the radio, and on social media, making bold claims and preying on vulnerable citizens, with people falling victim every day. Authorities must act; we cannot continue to allow this kind of exploitation in the name of spirituality,” she stressed.

The incident has raised broader concerns about the regulation of spiritual advertisements on television and other media platforms, with calls for authorities to take action against individuals making unverified claims.
