The Volta Regional Hockey Association, in collaboration with the Volta Regional Secretariat of the National Sports Authority, will organise the third edition of the Johnson Ofori Memorial Hockey Tournament on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Ho Sports Stadium.
The annual event is held in honour of the late Johnson Ofori, former Chairman and Patron of the Volta Hockey Association and Ho Hockey Club, whose dedication significantly contributed to the growth of hockey in the region.
This year’s tournament, scheduled to commence at 0900 hours, will feature five competitive clubs: Ho Hockey Club, Koforidua Hockey Club, Citizens International Hockey Club, Multistix Hockey Club, and Financiers Hockey Club.
The Volta Regional Sports Director is expected to grace the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour, highlighting the tournament’s role in advancing sports development in the region.
Since its inception, the competition has gained prominence on the regional hockey calendar. Citizens International Hockey Club claimed victory in the maiden edition in 2022, while Koforidua Hockey Club lifted the trophy in 2024.
Organisers say the tournament continues to serve as a platform for competitive play, while preserving the legacy of Ofori and promoting interest in hockey among young athletes and clubs.
