A tipper truck among the DRIP machines belonging to the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly has been involved in a serious accident after the DRIP Coordinator allegedly used it for personal work.
The truck reportedly crashed into a building at Konkoli near Trede in the Atwima Kwanwoma District, destroying a Mercedes-Benz vehicle with registration number GW-7851-Z.
The incident is currently generating tension at the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly, with some individuals calling for the dismissal of the DRIP Coordinator, Raphael Tampuri, as well as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).
A deep-throat source at the Assembly, in an interview with OTEC News reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng on Sunday, alleged that the DRIP Coordinator was using the machine for a private assignment outside the Assembly’s official mandate, under the watch of the MCE.
“The truck was being used to transport sand at the Trede enclave when it crashed into the building, and we have every reason to believe they were using it for personal business,” the source said.
“Earlier on, we were told at the Assembly that the truck had developed a fault and was out for repairs, only for it to later get involved in an accident,” the source added.
“The accident occurred on a holiday, Easter Monday, April 5, 2026, when all official government work had been put on hold due to the holiday,” the source noted.
The source further revealed that the truck has since been towed to a garage at Suame Magazine for repairs.
When contacted, Tampuri said the matter is being handled by senior officials, adding that he is not in a position to comment on it for now.
