  @Mandela. Good submission. I can not agree with you more. Well said!!!! As you rightly put it : "the Chieftaincy institution is a cancer in our Republic". If you take a close look at Sub-Saharan Africa, the 3 countries undergoing the fastest growth and transformation namely: Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania have all done away with their Chieftaincy institutions. Chieftaincy is reactionary, extremely conservative and not prone to national development.
