The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ellembelle in the Western Region, Joseph Agyekum, has embarked on an inspection tour of District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) projects at various stages of completion across the district.

The projects, outlined by the Ministry of Local Government under the DACF formula, include a six-unit classroom block at Bobrama, a CHPS compound and nurses’ quarters at Awiebo Mantukwa, a three-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities for Atababo JHS, and a three-unit classroom block at Madugbane.

School infrastructure projects are also ongoing at Asomase and Kotokoum.

Agyekum further disclosed that the Assembly is constructing a CHPS compound at Bonsukrom in Aiyinasi North and will use part of this year’s Common Fund to build additional CHPS compounds at Tandan and Ananekrom.

On economic infrastructure, the DCE stated that 25 percent of the District Assembly Common Fund is being used to construct a 24-hour economy market at Aiyinasi to boost local economic activity.

He commended the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, for supporting the Assembly’s development efforts and for constructing a six-unit classroom block for Nkroful Agricultural Senior High School (NASS).

Highlighting accountability, Agyekum said that after assessment by the Ministry of Local Government, the Ellembelle District Assembly emerged as the best-performing district in the Western Region and was awarded GH¢11 million under the performance-based allocation system.

He announced that the GH¢11 million will be used to commence construction of the district hospital at Nkroful.

The DCE urged contractors to speed up work while maintaining quality standards and appealed to communities to remain patient as efforts are made to distribute projects fairly across the district.

He also encouraged residents to protect completed facilities to ensure value for money.

Agyekum called on the people of Ellembelle to continue supporting President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government as they work to address development challenges in the district.

Some residents who spoke to the media during the inspection expressed gratitude to the DCE.

One resident said: “We are grateful for these projects. God bless the Ellembelle DCE and his government for thinking about us. We will continue to support the contractors to complete the projects on schedule so that our children will have a conducive environment to study.”
