The Nkawie Circuit Court in the Ashanti Region has struck out a case involving a student of Nhyinahin Catholic Senior High School and her teacher who were captured in a viral video fighting.

Presided over by His Lordship Albert Addo, the court on Wednesday directed that the matter be resolved at home through dialogue.

In his ruling, His Lordship advised all parties to pursue an amicable settlement rather than prolonged litigation.

The Court specifically directed that resolution talks be held among the School Authorities, the Ghana National Association of Teachers - GNAT, and the Family of the Student.

Emphasizing the need to protect schools as safe spaces, His Lordship stated:

“Amicable resolution protects the dignity of the teaching profession, the welfare of the student, and the learning environment.”

He noted that dialogue remains the best path when disputes involve learners and educators.

The case drew public attention after a video showing the student and teacher in a physical altercation circulated online.

Teachers and education stakeholders have since been on alert as authorities worked to restore calm and order at the school.

With the case now struck out, teachers are urged to remain professional and committed to due process while the school authorities, GNAT, and the student’s family conclude settlement discussions.

Education officials say maintaining decorum will help de-escalate tensions and refocus attention on learning.

Dialogue among the three parties is expected to commence immediately.

GNAT officials say they will support a fair process that safeguards the rights of both the teacher and the student while preserving the integrity of the classroom.
