Leadership of the community movement, Okuapeman Connect, has paid a courtesy call on the Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Sammi Awuku, to formally introduce the organisation and present its vision for youth empowerment and community development in Okuapeman.

The meeting was described as productive and insightful, with both parties expressing optimism about future collaboration to advance education, job creation, and social transformation in the area.

Founder and leader of the association, Nana Ayeh, who also serves as Chief Executive Officer of Ofie TV, noted that the initiative was not an overnight development but one that had been nurtured over several years.

According to him, the formal establishment of the group marks a significant milestone in a long-standing vision to unite indigenes of Okuapeman and channel collective efforts toward development.

He expressed appreciation for the support received so far and appealed for continued collaboration from stakeholders, stating that the success of the vision would depend on shared commitment and partnership.

General Secretary of the group, Kingsley Asare, explained that Okuapeman Connect is a movement designed to bring together Akuapem people worldwide to contribute meaningfully to the development of their homeland.

He emphasised that education has deep historical roots in Okuapeman and called on indigenes in the diaspora and at home to return and support local development initiatives.

Asare also highlighted pressing social challenges affecting the youth, including drug abuse and unemployment, noting that the organisation intends to play a leading role in addressing these issues through structured interventions and youth-focused programmes.

He further appealed to both traditional and political leadership within Okuapeman to strengthen the initiative's impact.

The event was also attended by the Tufuhene of Adweso, Nana Bekoe Dankwah, who serves as Chairman of the association, alongside other representatives of the group, which reportedly has a membership base of over 2,000 individuals.

In his remarks, MP Sammi Awuku commended the leadership of Okuapeman Connect for their initiative and commitment to community development.

He reaffirmed his readiness to collaborate with the organisation in efforts to create opportunities for young people and promote sustainable development within Okuapeman.

The MP further encouraged the group to remain focused on practical interventions that can positively impact livelihoods, particularly among the youth, describing the engagement as a step in the right direction.

The courtesy call marks an important step in strengthening partnerships between community-based organisations and political leadership in Okuapeman, with Okuapeman Connect positioning itself as a key driver of youth empowerment and local development initiatives.
