Several people have sustained severe injuries, with one person left in critical condition, following a horrific multi-vehicle collision at Adabraka, a suburb in the Old Tafo Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The accident involved a Toyota V8, an oncoming motorcycle, a commercial tricycle (Pragia), and two parked vehicles. The motorcycle rider, whose bike was completely damaged beyond repair, is reportedly in a coma with multiple fractured joints.

According to eyewitnesses at the scene, the accident occurred when the Toyota V8, which was travelling from the Atimatim Junction toward the Mamponteng area, collided with the oncoming motorcycle.

In a panic, the driver of the V8 is believed to have mistakenly stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake pedal. This caused the vehicle to surge forward, running directly over the motorcyclist and leaving him with life-threatening injuries.

An eyewitness, Mohammed Nurudeen, described the chaotic chain reaction that followed.

"After the car ran over the motorcyclist, it slammed into a commercial tricycle (Pragia), injuring the passengers on board. The V8 then swerved wildly across the road to the right, crashing into two cars parked by the roadside and a signpost. Fortunately, the parked cars, which were on display for sale, were unoccupied. A strong metal signpost finally stopped the V8; otherwise, it would have caused even more havoc."

Another witness, who identified himself as Kofi, noted that the driver appeared to have lost complete control of the vehicle due to panic.

"We believe he kept his foot on the accelerator out of sheer fear. The driver had his family, including young children, in the car with him. Most of the children also sustained injuries from the impact," Kofi said.

A visit to the scene by GhanaWeb's Ashanti Regional Correspondent, Nana Peprah, revealed that shattered glass from the damaged tricycle littered the road. The motorcycle was destroyed beyond repair, and all other vehicles involved suffered significant structural damage. Heavy traffic developed as a result of the incident.

All the injured victims, including the passengers from the tricycle and the children from the Toyota V8, have been rushed to hospital for emergency medical treatment. Meanwhile, bystanders revealed that the condition of the motorcyclist remains extremely critical, with many calling for urgent prayers for his survival.

Police also rushed to the scene to investigate the exact cause of the crash.
