Flood victims expressed profound gratitude to government
The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, together with the Forestry Commission, has presented relief items to families affected by recent floods in Samreboi in the Amenfi West Municipality of the Western Region.
The Technical Director of Forestry at the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Joseph Osiakwan, represented the Minister, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, to make the donation on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, the Ministry, and the Forestry Commission.
The support package included:
20 camp beds
200 pairs of Wellington boots
100 raincoats
600 cutlasses
130 mosquito nets
100 bags of rice
50 boxes of cooking oil
50 boxes of canned mackerel
50 boxes of canned tomatoes
Presenting the items, Mr Osiakwan said the donation was “to assure the affected residents that they are not alone during this difficult period.”
He added that the government and its agencies remain committed to supporting communities impacted by the floods.
Osiakwan also urged residents and community leaders to take steps to address the underlying causes of flooding to prevent similar incidents in the future.
