Hajia Suraiya also promised to establish NPP Women’s Wing offices in all 18 constituencies
Northern Regional Women Organiser hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hajia Suraiya Manan, has pledged to construct an ultramodern secretariat for women in the party if elected.
According to her, the facility will serve as a central hub for coordinating the activities of NPP women across the Northern Region and strengthen their participation in the party’s affairs.
Hajia Suraiya also promised to establish NPP Women’s Wing offices in all 18 constituencies in the region as part of efforts to promote women’s empowerment, mobilisation and participation in the party.
“Women are the heartbeat of every political party, and therefore women’s mobilisation is very crucial in winning political power,” she said.
“If I am given the nod, I will ensure that our women are empowered and are part of decision-making at all levels,” she added.
Hajia Suraiya, a former Tamale Central Women Organiser, is making her third attempt at the Northern Regional Women Organiser position after losing the contest in 2018 and 2022.
She served as Tamale Central Women Organiser from 2013 to 2017, during which she said she played a key role in mobilising women for the NPP ahead of the 2016 general elections.
She attributed the party’s increased votes in the Tamale Central Constituency during the 2016 elections partly to the mobilisation efforts undertaken at the time.
“I am experienced, tolerant, credible, accessible, and very patient. I have lost twice but I have never abandoned the party, and today I am here again to seek your mandate for the third time to lead the NPP to victory in the 2028 elections,” she told delegates.
Hajia Suraiya is seeking the support of delegates as the NPP prepares to elect its regional executives ahead of the 2028 general elections.
