  What permission does EPA need from this Kumasi chieftain before rolling out a campaign to ban styrofoam in the Ashanti region? This attitude and attention to this chieftain is a real indication of running a parallel government under the guise of showing respect to him. He says the whole of Ashanti region is for him; well what electoral and legislative powers has been conferred on this chieftain by the people of Ghana? He is a divisive traditional entity and a bain to development. This is why Boankra inland port is what it is. He is waiting to claim ownership once it is completed and if he does not get his way, he will sabotage its operation. People, Ghana is a REPUBLIC and not ruled by a traditional council. Watch it.

  I don't want to really comment on this issue but things have to be put to right so that I am forced to talk on this issue. What is the relevance in seeking the blessing of the Asantehene on this? If this was to take place in England, will the Government have sought the Blessings of King Charles? I respect Tradition but we in Ghana makes it look so backward. This means any Government involvement in any Development at any Paramount area should require the blessings of the Traditional Paramount Chief of the area? Are Ghanaians living in the Stone Age? When will Ghanaians learn to know that the role of the Asantehene and other Paramount Chiefs are just Traditional? He is then right when he goes outside the country and describes himself as the KING OF GHANA AND AFRICA when he is only respected but NOT AND NEVER HONORED by other Paramoncies as their Chief. I respect Tradition but don't let us let it drag us back from modernization and civilization. The Asantehene is only a very much respected PARAMOUNT Chief without any recognizable Political Authority.
