I am proud to hear about this development. I have taught my children about the original people of Ghana who were basically or principally the Guans. Yes, there was Ndewura Jakpa long before Ntim Gyakari, Obiri Yeboa and Osei TUTU. The name Tutu is a Guan name from Awukugua. Please, during the next congress, try to inform and include the Guans in Diaspora. We have such a Guan Association in Georgia but it is not strong.
It is true that Language is a cherished asset but the Guan language, as well as the Ga language are gradually dying. I have some Anum and Adukrom friends in the USA but it is unfortunate that their children cannot understand and do not speak the Guan Language. That is very bad and shameful. Even if one goes to Guan areas like Anum, Larteh, Adukrom and Amanokrom, the youth speak more Akan than Guan. What happened to ATAARAMAN? Please try to help your children to speak the Guan Language. It is difficult to make me help my children speak the Guan language because my wife is a Fante and my children are being brought up in the USA. Anyway, I am trying to do my best. I shall contact some Guan Academicians to help publish some basics in Guan to help our children to learn the language.

Though Ga presence in Accra is diluted by the influx of people from other regions , Gas have maintained a presence because they have a double conciousness and are used to having strangers in their mist. Ga is still the language spoken in Ga households and enclaves, while speaking other laguages to non natives of Accra. Ga language has even permiated into the national lexicon.... If you say (Trotro, akpeteshie, shitɔ, kakalika, Chaley, chaley wɔtey, kwashiɔkɔ, no ko fioo ma try makwɛ, etc.) you are speaking Ga.
