Kamgbunli Islamic SHS gets new toilet facility
Nyamekye Moses, a professional teacher, has constructed and handed over a modern six-seater water closet (WC) toilet facility to the Uthman Bun Affan Islamic Senior High School (UBAISH) at Kamgbunli in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.
The facility, constructed to improve sanitation for female students, was handed over to the Headmaster, Alhaji Osman Abubakari, during a short ceremony on the school compound.
Nyamekye Moses said the project was the third intervention he had undertaken for the school, aimed at addressing critical challenges facing female students and promoting girl-child education, dignity and good health.
“I observed the difficulties our girls go through due to the lack of decent toilet facilities. As a teacher and a member of this community, I felt compelled to support. This is my widow’s mite towards improving hygiene and encouraging our girls to stay in school,” he stated.
Alhaji Abubakari, on behalf of the Board, Management, Staff, Students and Parents of the school, expressed gratitude to Nyamekye Moses, describing the intervention as timely and life-saving.
He said the lack of adequate and decent toilet facilities for girls had, over the years, affected their comfort, privacy and regular attendance, especially during menstruation.
“On behalf of the Board, Management, Staff, Students and Parents of UBAISH, we are extremely grateful to Nyamekye. This facility will go a long way to improve sanitation, boost the confidence of our girls and enhance academic work. May Allah richly bless him,” he said.
He assured that the facility would be properly maintained for the benefit of current and future students.
The ceremony was attended by staff and students, members of the Parent-Teacher Association, opinion leaders and community members, who lauded Nyamekye Moses for his exemplary community service.
They also called on well-meaning individuals, old students, NGOs and corporate organisations to emulate his example.
