Unlike surface sprays or powders, gases penetrate wood, soil, walls, and stored goods to eliminate wood-boring insects, stored-product pests, and severe infestations.
  Common Fumigation Types & Applications
  * Structural Fumigation (Tenting): The entire building is sealed under heavy tarps. Gas fills all interior air space to target deep-seated pests like drywood termites, bed bugs, or wood borers.
  * Commodity & Grain Fumigation: Used in agriculture and storage. Sealed tarps or airtight silos treat harvested grains (maize, cocoa, rice) to eradicate beetles, weevils, and moths without damaging stored crops.
  * Soil Fumigation: Chemical gases are injected into soil prior to planting to eradicate soil-borne fungi, nematodes, and invasive weed seeds.
  * Container & Transport Fumigation: Shipping containers are sealed and treated at ports to prevent cross-border transport of quarantine pests.
  Standard Process
  * Inspection & Preparation: Property is evaluated to determine pest severity, structural volume, and target gas concentration. All living organisms (plants, pets), foods, medicines, and sensitive items are removed or sealed in specialized double-bag containers.
  * Sealing: Outlets, vents, doors, and windows are taped, or the structure is tented with heavy vinyl tarpaulins.
  * Application: Fumigants—such as Sulfuryl Fluoride (for structures) or Phosphine (for stored grains)—are released into the sealed zone.
  * Exposure Period: Gas remains enclosed for a period ranging from 24 to 72 hours, depending on target temperature, pest type, and volume.
  * Ventilation & Re-entry: Licensed technicians unseal the area, use heavy aeration fans to clear the gas, and test air quality with specialized sensors to verify safe human re-entry levels.
  Crucial Safety Protocols
  * Professional Execution: Fumigants are highly toxic and restrict execution exclusively to certified, licensed pest management professionals.
  * No Occupancy: Human and animal entry is strictly prohibited during the entire treatment phase.
  * Warning Signage: Perimeter warning signs clearly warning of toxic gas are posted around the sealed site.
