  There is both a cultural and a national problem that belie the issue of sanitation in Ghana; there is cultural ignorance due to lack of civic responsibility and lack of courage on the part of government.
  
  The simple question for each person living in Ghana, preferably Ghanaians, is this: how and where do each household discard household trash if there is no contracted trash collection service provided by some entity and no neighborhood/ community trash repository/dumpster?
  
  We cannot bury our heads in the sand and pretend we do not know why our streets are filthy, gutters and drainage systems are clogged and why it's acceptable social norm for working people including traders of all types to not pay their fair share of taxes. While there are not enough jobs to go around, a local government that is innovative, creative and can think on its feet can come up with multiple ways to pay for trash collection services for each house in a community. Local governments can deploy and mandate once a week public cleanup duties for those who cannot pay for household trash collection services while means-testing is applied to household income for fair and equitable service fees.
  
  Those old enough do remember the days of "town council" people sweeping community streets to keep dusty roads and communities relatively clean and sanitized. The government of Ghana, local and national, will eventually abuse and misuse farmlands if we allow the haves in society to keep moving away from the have-nots and turn prestine farmlands into new communities at the expense of food production.
  
  Let us not create new problems for ourselves because we cowardly stay away from truths no matter how we feel. Ghana will never measure up as a developed nation if we build all the tall buildings of the world on our soil but fail to collect and dispose off household trash like a civilized nation.

  I believe this is the right direction to deal with the foolishness in them. I can tell you that over 95% of these market women at that place are Npp stooges. They defied the good exercise directive even though it is for their own good simply because their Npp is not in power. You see how political foolishness can cause problems? Had it been a military regime directive, how dare you defy that order. The military should be empowered to handle such exercises and lets see if people will dare defy common sanitation orders. Why do we do this to ourselves? The very people that foolishly defied this order will dare not refuse to obey the same directive in the white man's land but will intentionally do that in his own land simply because of dirty party politics. Foolishness nkoaaa.
