This Togbe is one Paramount Chief in Ghana that I respect very much. He is very gentle and respectful to people. Togbe, I appreciate and respect your efforts. If I may add, can I respectfully invite the Police at the Motor Traffic Unit to organize periodic Driving Education for the Drivers at your area? These days, Vehicle Drivers do not attend any Driving Schools or have any Driving Education. The moment the brother buys a Commercial Vehicle, he automatically becomes a Driver. Some speed and overtake on the roads anyhow. The Drivers do not maintain their vehicles and don't even check and replace the tyres of their vehicles. That is very unfortunate. The Station Management team should periodically inspect the Roadworthy Certification of Commercial Vehicles before they are allowed to load at the Vehicle Stations.
To check over speeding, the time that the Commercial Vehicles leave the Station should be logged and signed by Station manager and the staff. At every Police Checkpoint, the time of arrival should be checked and logged and signed by the Driver and the Senior Police Officer on duty. On arrival at the final Station, the time of arrival should be logged and signed by the Station Manager. Drivers who overspeed should not be allowed to load on arrival but be delayed and reported to senior officers of the GPRTU. This was done at the time of Efo Julor John Rawlings and it reduced the number of accidents caused on our roads, especially by Toyota Hiace. Why should Drivers speed to kill passengers. Habitual Speedsters should be suspended or even banned from driving any Commercial Vehicles.

I am hoping the potholes have geen repaired. Encroaching bushes onto the roads, have been cleared. Sufficient signage and warnings put on roads to alert drivers. The vehicles plying the roads are in mint conditions, drivers are driving sober, no overloading and other safery features that promote road traffic safety are in place. Now we can purify and pray to the gods for good luck. Well done chiefs for doing the needful, physically before turning to the gods

Black people and our superstitious believes. Accidents are occurring due to our poor driving skills. There are no organized driving schools where people go to take practical and theoretical driving courses. Furthermore, there are no rigorous driving tests conducted before issuing driving licenses to people. Also illiterates who cannot read nor understand driving signs are allowed to drive on our roads. Many vehicles in Ghana are not road worthy. These are issues which needs to be addressed at the national level instead of embarking on some primitive so called purification rituals to resolve what is basically a scientific problem.
