The newly enstooled Gyaasehene of the Kyidom Division of the Boso-Gua Traditional Area in the Eastern Region, Nana Sawiri Aburam I, has pledged to use his traditional office to mobilise greater support for development projects in Boso.

He said his new position would provide a formal platform to engage individuals, organisations and other stakeholders to support projects in education, healthcare and youth development.

Nana Sawiri Aburam I, known privately as Kwabena Aburam, was enstooled by the Amoakarle/Kyidom family at a ceremony in Boso on Monday, September 28, 2026.

The ceremony at the Kyidomhene’s Palace attracted chiefs and queen mothers from across the traditional area and neighbouring communities, including Anum and Mepe.

The newly installed royal subsequently underwent customary rites, including the swearing of an oath of allegiance before the Kyidomhene of the Boso-Gua Traditional Area, Ahunabobirim Akuamoah Kwao II, and Kyidom Abusuapanyin, Moses Danso Aburam.

Speaking after his installation, Nana Sawiri Aburam I said he had been involved in community development before assuming a traditional leadership position but previously approached potential supporters in his personal capacity.

“Previously, if I was going to somebody to seek support for my community, I went as an individual person. Now I have a title that I can use to solicit to help develop Boso community, which is dear to my heart,” he said.

Healthcare and education

The Gyaasehene identified healthcare as one of his immediate priorities, citing inadequate staffing and infrastructure at the community’s health centre.

He said he would work with the Kyidomhene and other stakeholders to seek an upgrade of the facility, with the long-term goal of turning it into a polyclinic or hospital.

He said the traditional authority had already supported efforts to address staffing challenges and would continue exploring ways to strengthen healthcare delivery.

Education is another priority, with Nana Sawiri Aburam I noting that some schools in Boso also face staffing challenges.

He said efforts would be made to mobilise support to complement government interventions.

Youth development

The Gyaasehene also highlighted youth unemployment and challenges faced by young people undertaking apprenticeships.

He said some apprentices had abandoned their training because they could not afford feeding costs or had responsibilities as single parents.

He said he, the Kyidomhene and Abontendom Hemaa, Nana Ama Oye I, were working on an initiative to help more young people complete their apprenticeships.

“Boso youth are always ready for any developmental project,” he said.

Community mobilisation

Nana Sawiri Aburam I appealed to Boso citizens in Ghana and abroad to support development initiatives.

He said his approach would be to present concrete projects and mobilise support around initiatives with clear benefits to the community.

He also pledged to work within the traditional hierarchy and support the Kyidomhene’s leadership.

The Gyaasehene said his decision to accept the position was influenced by his previous involvement in supporting the Kyidomhene, including administrative work at the palace and representing him at functions.

He expressed hope that his tenure would ultimately be measured by the lives improved and development initiatives achieved in Boso.
