THis is wonderful! THis is what leaders SHOULD be doing. Perhaps the Asantehene should buy these for all the children in his kingdom?

Isn't it a shame that Ghana, a country that exports timber of all kinds cannot provide writing desks for children to use in schools? Shame unto all Ghanaians.

Remember that with Tutudesk, the children get to take them home which in a compelling manner, extends beyond the classroom.

Please note that Tutudesk does not 'compete' with traditional desks - the opposite is true, we want every child to have a proper desk to work at both at school and at home. Unfortunately, it will be decades until this can be achieved in Ghana due to the massive education infrastructure shortfall (2 million plus children in Ghana do not have a classroom desk when attending school) and as such it is important that people understand that Tutudesk's intervention and work is positioned as an effective, immediate, interim solution to the challenge of classroom desk shortages while Governments addresses the issue over time. This would at least ensure that children affected by this problem are not prejudiced in their educational development and have the best possible chance to learn to write properly (a vitally important part of being literate) during their critically important primary school foundation / formative years).
No Ghanaian citizen should feel shameful whatsoever - classroom desk shortages are a global problem in literally EVERY emerging economy across our planet. Tutudesk is an unique African innovation and program that provides a practical, proven solution and that our Father Desmond Tutu has personally been involved with and directly lent his credibility and reputation to for a number of years already (remember that he was a school teacher before he joined the diocese).
Noting that many of our continents challenges truly are as a result of past legacy issues - and that so many of our future opportunities require a solid basic educational standard for our citizens at the very least - we all need to be innovative and engage in developing our own, proudly African solutions to our various national challenges - it is unrealistic to expect that our Government has the means to address all issues affecting our country.
Why Tutudesk? without basic literacy skills (ie. the ability to read as well as write) children struggle academically, which in turn then denies them wider access to higher education, the opportunity to pursue the career of their choosing and ultimately to contribute to their countries economy and future prosperity through taxes, economic participation etc.
Ultimately there is never a 'silver bullet' for any challenge but it is vitally important to make incremental gains in any social development issue requiring redress; Tutudesk has impeccable advantage, many years of proven work and results assisting the children of Africa and many awards / peer recognition to validate same. We are honored to be able to assist the children of Ghana wherever we can make a difference and for as long as our assistance is needed and valued.

Very creative. Children can take the desk home, which they can use to do their homework and also practice writing. Every school child must have one.
