It is a well known fact that the average age of the Ghanaian farmers is increasing every year. The reason is the inability to attract young Ghanaians to join the Agriculture sector. Today it is almost impossible to make a decent living out of agriculture in Ghana. There are many reasons to this problem. The use of old Techniques, non mechanized small scale farms, rain fed farming, and low income, among other reasons, which do not make the agriculture in Ghana attractive to young Ghanaians.
Present day farming requires increased ongoing exposure to modern and updated farming methods. These new farming methods will demonstrate that with simple and modern techniques, combined with qualified management, the productivity and yield may be greatly increased. The intention is to highlight and emphasize the point that modern day agriculture is not merely a matter of capital investment, but a question of professionalism and sound management practices.
